The professional quality of MPEG serves the streaming world for Video-On-Demand (VOD) purposes. The MPEG decoding ability allows the Osprey-2000 to be used for hig-quality MPEG archiving of content that can be later decoded in hardware and delivered to popular streaming formats. The Osprey-2000 effectively delivers real-time transcoding and streaming from an MPEG source file in one step

With professional digital audio and video inputs, the Osprey-2000 is the solution that video professionals have been waiting for.

There are two models of Osprey-2000 Decoder which are:

Osprey-2000 D DV
MPEG-2 decoder/transcoder and streaming capture card with DV and analog inputs

The Osprey-2000 D DV is the base MPEG decoder with an IEEE-1394 port for DV input and coupled with capture card capabilities. All inputs and outputs are analog with the exception of the DV input.

The inputs include:

  • Analog Composite
  • S-Video
  • Unbalanced and Balanced Audio
  • DV (IEEE-1394)

Osprey-2000 D DV Pro
MPEG-2 decoder/transcoder and streaming capture card with SDI, AES/EBU, DV and analog inputs

The Osprey-2000 DV Pro includes everything found on the above models including the IEEE-1394 port for DV input. This DV input also provides real-time decoding of DV in hardware. The resulting decode is a digital uncompressed audio and video stream.

The Osprey-2000 D DV Pro combines all of the capture capabilities of the above models.

Osprey-2000 Breakout Connector Options

The Osprey-2000 ships with a breakout cable for video and audio inputs and a special audio and video output cable. There are several other breakout options available for the Osprey-2000 to meet your specific work environment requirements which are a breakout box and a breakout rack panel.

The breakout box for the Osprey-2000 has inputs for composite video, S-Video, balanced & unbalanced audio, and digital audio. It also features unbalanced (RCA) and balanced (XLR) audio connectors. Additionally, the right XLR balanced input is used as the digital AES/EBU audio input.

A rack mount version of the breakout box is also available. The 1U rack input box has the same type of inputs as the breakout box but provides an additional set of inputs. This provides rack-savings benefits when using multiple Osprey-2000 streaming capture cards.
