The complete white paper series
is now online at the ViewCast web site!

Business video is not new, nevertheless, the systems used to source, manage, and deliver the variety of video used in business are still marketed and implemented separately, with separate infrastructures, separate user interfaces, and little or no integration.

However, an interactive video network must bring virtually every application for video together in a streamlined solution capable of satisfying the sophisticated video needs of complex institutions. Plus users need easy, intuitive and appropriate user interfaces for the wide variety of video applications found in today's business environment and supported by the video network.

How can these separate and vastly different interface be brought together for integrated video distribution across the local or global interprise? ViewCast has the answer.

We are now offering an extensive white paper which defines the functional requirements and application purposes for a true Interactive Video Distribution Network. Plus how the ViewCast IVN can bring this vastly separate components together for a truely interactive vide experience.

Originally intented for a three-part series in this newsletter, you can now download this detailed and highly informative white paper from the ViewCast Downloads Section of http://www.viewcast.com.

ViewCast Provides a Peek into
Future Video Capture Technologies

Windows Media 9 Series hardware-based encoding
demonstrated at NAB 2003
!

ViewCast provided a glimpse into the future of digital media content creation last month. In collaboration with Texas Instruments and Microsoft, ViewCast Osprey Video demonstrated real-time hardware encoding at the National Association of Broadcasters exposition (NAB 2003) using Windows Media 9 Series, the latest digital media technology from Microsoft released in January.

The demonstration was held in the Microsoft booth # SL136 and built on recent announcements by Microsoft and Texas Instruments to port the Windows Media 9 Series to powerful TMS320C64X TI DSP platform.

"Viewcast is showing its innovation with this display of real-time hardware-based encoding using Windows Media 9 Series," said Jonathan Usher, director of the Windows Digital Media Division at Microsoft. "Windows Media 9 Series is designed to deliver the major step forward in professional quality and performance so that companies such as ViewCast can use it to create new features and capabilities for their products."

ViewCast unveiled this technology preview with the intention of garnering market feedback and bringing in early development partners and integrators.

"We are pleased to be working with ViewCast and Microsoft to present how digital media content creation is changing," said Pradeep Bardia, worldwide marketing manager for Texas Instruments DSP video and imaging business unit. "The programmability and flexibility of TI's digital media processor gives ViewCast's popular Osprey Video capture cards the ability to revolutionize the way streaming media is created."

ViewCast has been engaged in an ongoing collaborative effort with Microsoft and Texas instruments and plans to continue developing this technology into a commercially viable solution for a variety of market segments.

The next step is to go beyond this technology preview and blend the collaborative efforts to date with market feedback into our next generation products and solutions. This technology demonstrates ViewCast's commitment to future development programs targeted at changing and enhancing the digital media content creation landscape. Our customers want high-quality media they can rely on. By blending Microsoft's Windows Media 9 Series technology with Texas Instruments powerful DSP platforms and Osprey Video's capabilities, this promises an exciting future for you and the industry at large.
