Although the Osprey Capture and Encoding Manager may work under Windows NT, our testing has shown inconsistent results. To ensure the optimal capture and encoding experience we do not recommend utilizing this application under the Windows NT operating system. The Osprey Capture & Encoding Manager (OCEM) is a single standalone, local encoding application designed specifically to demonstrate and enable simultaneous multi-format encoding. Currently it supports: - encoding profiles for Real and WindowsMedia formats. - streaming of Closed Caption text from NTSC sources; PAL CC and PAL teletext are not supported. This is the third release of this application. This application will operate with all version 2.0.0 through 2.2.1 audio-video Osprey capture cards and drivers, but installations without the SimulStream added-cost license are limited to a single encoding session. This application will not operate with video-only Osprey cards (Osprey-50 and Osprey-100). The beta AVS 3.0 drivers will not be supported until version 4 of this application. Installation Instructions: ======================================================= ======================================================= See SimulStream.chm on your Osprey Driver CD for a list of requirements before installing Osprey Capture & Encoding Manager. Windows 2000 and Windows XP users may choose to enable support for Windows Media Encoder 9 codecs. Enabling this option will overwrite certain Windows Media Encoder 7 files that cannot easily be restored. It is suggested that Windows XP users set a System Restore Point before installing this application; Windows 2000 users do not have this option. The Windows Media Encoder 9 support is incompatible with Sound Forge 5.0. Users of that product should not choose to install the Windows Media 9 support. This version 3 application replaces version 2 of SimulStream Encoding Manager. This installation program will uninstall version 2 of SimulStream Encoding Manager if it is present. To install this application, you may use the autorun installation from your Osprey CD. If you have downloaded a newer version, simply double-click on file OspreyCEM.exe and follow the instructions. Downloading Updated Version: ======================================================= ======================================================= Before installing, check the Osprey Video website or the ftp site for the latest version: For the ftp site, go to ftp://ftp.ospreyvideo.com/pub/tools/SimulStream/OCEM/latest/ For the Osprey Video support website, navigate: www.ospreyvideo.com --> click on Downloads --> click on FREE Software --> click on DOWNLOAD link under Osprey Capture & Encoding Manager Overview and Help: ======================================================= ======================================================= To read an overview about using this application, please select the 'OCEM Overview' entry from the 'Osprey Capture & Encoding Manager' program group. To review the Help for this application, please select the 'SimulStream Help' entry from the 'OCEM' program group. Known Issues: ======================================================= ======================================================= - The 'Multiple Applications' checkbox on the Advanced tab of the Preferences dialog has not been fully tested. If you enable this feature, you must point each instance of the OCEM application to a different Osprey card. Although this feature exists, it is experimental and has known problems. - When CPU usage is above 80%, the Windows Media / Real SDKs used by this application may drop incoming audio/video data. As a consequence, audio and video become unsynchronized. It is strongly recommended that users choose encoding profile combinations which do not exceed 80% CPU utilization. - When encoding Real9 data to a streaming server, the audio and video may get 0.5 - 1 second out of sync. - CPU usage in Windows Media 9 streams is substantially higher than in Windows Media 7/8 streams. We are trying to address issues with full resolution WM9 encoding. To review the current limitations of this software, and the list of known problems, please select the 'SimulStream Help' entry from the 'OCEM' program group.
