=============================================== Osprey Video Division ViewCast Corporation Osprey-500 Capture Driver For Windows XP Release 2.2.1 Update, Patch 5 6/7/2004 This document includes updated information for Release 2.2.1 Update Patch 5 of the Osprey-500 Capture Driver. For more information on this Osprey card and other Osprey products, visit the Osprey web page, www.ospreyvideo.com. ============================================================ This patch contains the following files: ============================================================ o5ca_usr.dll readme.txt ============================================================ This patch contains the following fix: ============================================================ Audio boost factor and volume level calibration have been improved: 1. The old registry based software boost factor named "Gain" is obsolete and no longer has any effect. This factor did not work correctly on all products, and was not calibrated across different products. 2. The new boost factor defaults now result in consistent volume levels across different Osprey products. Also, the same boost and calibration scheme is used by the Osprey AVStream drivers. 3. The driver has internal defaults that should be correct for nearly all users. However, these can be overridden by DWORD variables in the registry. Experienced users can use the following information to override them. Contact Osprey support for further assistance. 4. For analog inputs, there are hardware factors that set the input reference level. (The Osprey-200 does not have a hardware boost adjustment.) - HwBoostUnbalanced range is -23 to +3, default -10. - HwBoostBalanced range is -15 to +12, default 4. 5. For all inputs, a software boost factor can also be applied. All software boosts except the Osprey-200's have an internal default of 0, and range from -32 to +31. The Osprey-200's has an internal default of 7, range -32 to +31. 6. The location of the variables is: HKCU\Software\Osprey\Osprey???\Device?\Audio. - "Osprey???" is "Osprey200", "Osprey500", "Osprey540", or "Osprey2000". - In "Device?", '?' is the zero-based device number. These variables are initially not present, and the VfW driver never creates or modifies them. 7. The variable names are as follows - only variables that correspond to audio inputs on your Osprey product are meaningful: - SwBoostUnbalanced - SwBoostBalanced - SwBoostAesEbu - SwBoostRcaSpDif - SwBoostOptSpDif - SwBoostSdi - SwBoostDv1394 - HwBoostUnbalanced - HwBoostBalanced All are of unsigned DWORD variable type. To set a negative value, enter a large hexadecimal unsigned word: -1 is 0xFFFFFFFF -10 is 0xFFFFFFF6 8. Changes take effect when you restart the application.
