When I try to encode or broadcast on my Osprey 220 card with Windows Media Encoder it pops up an error saying "The device is not connected." (0x8007048F), eventhough I can see video comming in with the Osprey Video Control Panel.

-----Addition------

I've downloaded and installed the latest drivers, also I've moved the card to different PCI slots on my mobo to make sure it isn't an IRQ problem.

Are you sure you've selected the Osprey device for both audio & video in the Source tab of the Properties page?   Also check to see that you've selected the input (S-Video or composite) that your video is coming in on (I believe you click 'Configure' next to the selected source, but I'm not near a machine with an Osprey card in it right now).

DVDman-

I do have the live source comming into the osprey through composite, which is configured in Windows Media Encoder. Do you have any ideas at what could be going wrong? or what I am doing wrong?!

My guess would be one of the following:

1) In versions prior to Windows Media Encoder 9 is video was being streamed and not audio many customers didn't bother hooking up an audio source to the default audio device as configured in Window's Control Panel.  Older versions required audio to be connected, then if you don't want to stream audio, you edit the profile to 0Kbps 0kHz for audio.  This is not necessary in version 9.  If you're not using version 9 try upgrading the encoder or editing the profile.

2) In version 9 if you have multiple Osprey capture cards installed, or if you have upgraded your Osprey capture then this error can occur when starting from a profile.  Edit the profile to be sure that the correct devices are selected and that the video codec selected is NOT "Windows Media Video 1 Image."  Instead, use"Windows Media Video."

If you are still experiencing this problem, try uninstalling the version 3.0.0 drivers and install the 2.2.2 drivers. You should now be able to use Windows Media Encoder to capture.

I assume you are using Windows XP.

Last time I tried it, the 2.2.2 drivers did not support capture with WME 9

Version 2.2.2 and version 3.0.0 and later of the Osprey driver work with WME9 and WME7.1.  What kind of problems did you encounter?   The only known issue that I am aware of is related to the audio device where selection of the Audio Recording Device must be made inside WME (don't select default) and the audio input on that device must be made from the Windows Mixer.

With V2.2.2 driver installed, WME9 didn't present the Osprey card as an available souce.  I was running Win XP Pro with latest SP & patches.  Ran test in Dec 03.
