To clarify, the audio sync problem is actually not with the .mpg file, it is with .vob files created with DVD Authoring programs. I got this response in email:
The issue you have described below is similar to the issues we have seen as well when utilizing these software applications. The issues you have described may be caused by the applications. For instance we know that DVDit demuxes the streams we create and decodes the audio to PCM. So perhaps the timing information in the original encoded file is lost. We are currently working with DVDit, Ulead and other DVD authoring software packages to determine which products are compatible with our cards. As soon as we have a more definitive answer we will be sure to pass along the results.
The question I have, which I think needs to be answered here for others to see, is - Is there any existing DVD authoring software which is known to work with this card without audio sync problems? I realize that this card is primarily used for streaming. Still, you do advertise that the data from this card can be authored onto a DVD. If it is technically possible, it would be nice if your drivers and/or software could be changed to first of all, output mpeg-2 files which most DVD authoring programs considered compliant as some programs such as SpruceUp and Uleads DVD MovieFactory wont even open the .mpg files. As for the audio sync problems, these programs have no problem with mpeg files created with other cards (unless the mpeg files themselves have audio sync problems). What is different about the files created by the sample programs included with this card that causes these problems? Also, as I stated in my email response, when I used the sample Transcode program to convert the .mpg files into .avi files, the converted .avi file has audio sync problems after about a minute, so even the software which you have included has the same problem. I really hope you can find a solution to these problems.
