What deck are you using? Also I expect you're using balanced inputs to the o210 but wanted to check. Do you know what level the deck is outputting or, since you mentioned it,  what output level changes did you make to the deck? Lastly, when did you buy the o210 or what's its serial #.

I am getting a very hot audio signal coming out of betacam decks, requires me to drop the software audio input level for the card to the lowest level possible, and I still often get audio clipping/distortion. Coming out of a camera or a vcr the audio is fine, I can set the input in the middle of the slider. I have made adjustments on the betacam deck without much success. Is there no other way to control the input audio level for the 210 card? What is meant by "hardware audio gain control"?
thanks, Gary

That is correct ! The regsitry edit will only work for the Osprey-200 and 500 products.

Scott, thanks for the quick response. I am using a 210 card, are you saying the registry change won't work on this card?

The Osprey-210 and 220 card provide gain in hardware and are not affected by the software regsitry change you mention. The Osprey-200 and 500 card can utilize the registry key to add gain or attentuate the audio signal being fed into the card via software. The registry key will only work for unbalanced and balanced sources.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Osprey\OspreyXXX\DeviceX\Audio\Gain

The "gain" Key will need to be added to the registry.

The default value of Gain is 2. The value can be set to 0 to attenuate or set as high as 9 to add gain to the signal.

We look forward to hearing your results .

Sime time ago, Scott showed me how to set the input volume level for the osprey card at the system level, not through the standard sound control.
something with tweaking an hkey setting..... can someone walk me through that again? Using Windows 2000.
thanks, Gary
