When a DV stream is interrupted being sent to the Osprey-5xx/2xxx DV cards there will be no DV video to decode. When this happens, the video 'captured' will tend to be orange. For example, if unplug the IEEE-1394 source this should happen. When the card senses a video signal again it will reset and start to decode. So if you're seeing this happen often then either a) something is wrong with the video input from the switcher or b) something is wrong on the Osprey card. We have some experiece with a Videonics switcher in house. I'll let the support group follow up on this with you.

we just did our first 2 camera test with an 800dv going through a videonics switcher. We used a Canon Elura as one camera and an XL1 as the other, both going into the videonics as firewire. A single firewire went into the Osprey. At first both cameras seemed ok, but then the image as seen in the WindowsMedia encoder started disappearing periodically, regardless of which camera was being shown. The image would switch to a orange or green solid color for a second, then flip back to the image. 

The problem went away when I switched to s-video in, but obviously that ain't the solution. The Elura by itself doesn't present that problem, I haven't tried out the XL1 by itself yet, but I wonder if someone might know what's going on?
