Osprey SimulStream, Niagara SCX and Niagara Streaming Systems
Replace Analog Platform

The Museum of Television & Radio will utilize ViewCast's digital streaming media software, Osprey SimulStream, as part of an overall initiative to integrate digital technologies into the Museum. This technology will be used by the Museum in an extensive effort to replace the current analog platform with digital. This initiative includes a donation of two ViewCast Niagara streaming systems utilizing ViewCast's Osprey® Video cards equipped with advanced streaming and workflow management software which includes Niagara SCX stream control software.

The Museum has a collection of more than 100,000 television and radio programs and advertisements covering more than seventy-five years of television and radio history, featuring news, public affairs, arts, sports, comedy, and variety programs, as well as commercial advertising. The Museum also has more than 1000 videotaped seminars conducted at the Museum since 1981. These seminars bring together performers, writers, producers, executives, directors, critics, and journalists for dialogues that give the general public an insight into the media's creative processes, and its role in history and society.

"The Museum of Television & Radio is pleased to utilize the ViewCast technology and greatly appreciates this generous donation," said Robert M. Batscha, president of The Museum of Television & Radio. "As we continue to expand the Museum's collection, we also look to new technologies for preservation and to enhance the viewing and listening experience of our visitors."

"From Milton Berle and Jack Benny to the dramatic gold medal victory of the U.S. Olympic Hockey team, the Museum's collection reflects decades of history and culture. We're honored that ViewCast technology will play a role in preserving and this material for decades to come," said George Platt, ViewCast president and chief executive officer.

The Museum of Television & Radio, with locations in New York and Los Angeles, is a nonprofit organization founded by William S. Paley to collect and preserve television and radio programs and advertisements and to make them available to the public. From its inception in 1975, the Museum has organized exhibitions, screening and listening series, seminars, and education classes to showcase its collection of over 100,000 television and radio programs and advertisements. Programs in the Museum's permanent collection are selected for their artistic, cultural, and historic significance. The Museum has initiated a process to begin acquiring Internet programming for the collection.
