Osprey SimulStream Goes Digital
Provides Multiple Audio and Video Streams for Osprey-500 & Osprey-2000 Streaming Capture Cards with Digital AV Inputs

Osprey SimulStream(TM) software, which gives users the ability to output multiple video and audio streams settings using multiple encoding applications with independent capture settings from a single Osprey capture card, is now available as Osprey Digital SimulStream to users of Osprey-500 and Osprey-2000 line of products.

For the Osprey-500 and Osprey-2000 series, the Osprey Digital SimulStream software solution provides cost-effective capabilities in DV and professional audio/video source distribution to software applications. This unique new offering creates a "virtual splitter'' of video and audio from either DV or SDI sources. Professionals can now process media from digital sources simultaneously, substantially improving production workflow and saving valuable time.

Streaming media content creators typically encode several different streams of the same media in order to provide streams for modems and broadband connections, as well as for different formats, such as RealNetworks®, RealVideo®, and RealAudio® and Microsoft's Windows Media. Before Osprey's SimulStream offerings, content creators had to repeat the encoding task for each file, or use multiple cards to speed up the process. With Osprey SimulStream, multiple encoding tasks can be launched simultaneously on a single computer. Osprey SimulStream reduces encoding time up to 83 percent while greatly improving the video and audio on the resulting streams.

Three of the biggest challenges for streaming professionals are the quality, cost and workflow of content creation. The combination of the industry's standard streaming codecs -- RealVideo and Windows Media -- with Osprey's new SimulStream software, makes huge strides toward overcoming these obstacles of programming quality, hardware costs and personnel intensive workflow.

SimulStream is a new concept to the streaming media world and will fundamentally change the way a lot of streaming media is created. Professional broadcasters want to reach the broadest possible audience, and the availability Osprey Digital SimulStream allows them to distribute digital content from a single source to a variety of different applications. This substantially improves streaming encoding workflow, saving both time and money.

Osprey SimulStream was introduced in October as an exclusive product for ViewCast Osprey® Video Osprey-210 and Osprey-220 capture cards. Osprey SimulStream is also provided as part of ViewCast Systems package offerings in Niagara(TM) Streaming Systems that utilize the Osprey-210 and Osprey-220 for their capture engines. With support extended to the digital streaming capture cards, customers can capitalize on the benefits of multi-streaming from analog to digital.

Add the Niagara SCX multi-encoder remote control software and you have a powerful suite of workflow management tools! Read more about Niagara SCX in the following story.

Free Trial Version of Niagara SCX
is Now Available

Try-Before-You-Buy: Fully Functional
30-day Trial Version Online

Niagara SCX allows any Osprey-based streaming video encoder system to be remotely monitored and controlled locally or across a network. Developed for maximized control of the Osprey Video streaming capture cards, Niagara SCX provides a powerful remote control capability. It manages and controls RealProducer and Window Media encoding software through a single easy-to-use interface and is ideal for:

  • CDN's
  • ISP's
  • Broadcasters
  • Content Creators
  • Enterprises (corporations)
  • Data Centers

Niagara SCX solves many of the problems inherent in controlling numerous encoders - whether you're talking about a stack of encoders in a data center, controlling distributed traffic camera encoders, or any other application that requires the management of multiple encoders.

Niagara SCX utilizes two software applications:

Niagara SCX Encoder Manager which is the server component that runs as Windows Service. The Encoder Manager is installed on all encoding machines that you wish to control.

Niagara SCX Encoder Explorer which is the client component and the SCX user interface. It communicates with the SCX Encoder Manager to monitor and control the encoding processes. It can do this by residing on the encoder machine itself or across a network on a remote machine with no encoder installed controlling many encoders.

SCX Encoder Explorer shows the operational state of the encoders simultaneously, and allows the user to select any encoder to show additional information about the encoding process, or control the operation of the encoder.

The Niagara SCX directly controls the capture and encoding process for any encoder machine on the network. It can control multiple streaming cards and multiple encoding processes in Real or Windows Media format, or both.

By the way, would you like to regain some rack space from your stack of encoding systems? You should check out the new digital SimulStream!

Niagara SCX and Osprey SimulStream are a perfect combination for multi-encoding needs. Read more about SimulStream in the preceeding story.
