New Streaming System Addresses Performance Needs for Broadband Business Video Applications

DALLAS (April 29, 2003) - ViewCast Corporation (VCST.OB), the video communications leader, announced today the availability of its new Niagara® PowerStream, a premium 2U rack-mount streaming media encoder designed for the high-bandwidth streaming of corporate and business video communications. The Niagara PowerStream addresses broadband needs for security/surveillance, training, corporate video, and business TV applications.

Streaming encoding software engines such as Windows Media Encoder and Real Helix Producer are becoming more CPU intensive with each software release as the demand for high-bandwidth streaming of business video continues to grow. More advanced solutions are required to provide businesses with the high-quality content they seek to deliver, plus meet the processing demands of the most popular streaming engines. With the introduction of the Niagara PowerStream systems, ViewCast offers the most powerful streaming solutions addressing the growth of high-bandwidth content delivery.

The Niagara PowerStream features a dual Intel® Xeon™ 2.4 GHz processors, 1GB RAM, and two 80GB ATA drives, via RAID 0 (160GB total). Powered by ViewCast's industry-leading Osprey® video capture cards, the Niagara PowerStream's audio and video inputs include SDI, DV, S-Video and composite (BNC) video, as well as embedded SDI, AES/EBU, and B/UB audio.
