ViewCast
and MASERGY Offering Multi-Site Videoconferencing Over IP
Companies
Guarantee Quality of Service Right Down to the Desktop
DALLAS,
TEXAS (Jan. 29, 2002) - ViewCast Corporation (NASDAQ:VCST)
announced today that it has teamed with Masergy Communications
to enable ViewCast and MASERGY's network of partners to
offer multi-site videoconferencing over IP with guaranteed
Quality of Service (QoS), all the way to the desktop with
no burden on the Local Area Network.
ViewCast's
Viewpoint
VBX transforms a global or local network into a dynamic
conferencing platform. Viewpoint VBX can be deployed across
the whole enterprise - from boardroom to desktop, enabling
up to four-way video dialog and corporate-wide broadcasting.
Videoconferencing transport across the MASERGY network is
backed by the industry's strongest, most straightforward
Service Level Agreement (SLA).
"We
are thrilled to team with MASERGY," said George Platt,
ViewCast president and chief executive officer. "Together,
we can provide high-quality videoconferencing to a broader
audience than ever before, at a lower cost than ever before."
Information
packets traversing legacy carrier IP backbones are not 100
percent guaranteed to arrive at the receiving end, nor are
they guaranteed to arrive in the proper sequence. This lack
of predictable performance frequently results in degraded
video and audio quality. The MASERGY network ensures all
video information packets travel in-sequence at the highest
priority end-to-end without disruption, thereby producing
a better videoconference.
"Teaming
with ViewCast allows MASERGY's high level of quality to
be extended to the desktop without causing congestion issues
over the Local Area Network," said Mike Beaton, senior
vice president of global sales and business development
for MASERGY. "We're excited to be part of this dynamic
solution."
Key
performance metrics of the MASERGY network for video traffic
include:
- 100
percent packet delivery.
- 100
percent in-sequence packet delivery.
- Maximum
latency variation (jitter) of 10ms.
- Sub-1
second fast fail-over (network recovery)
These
industry-leading performance metrics are possible because
of the Class of Service (CoS)/ Quality of Service (QoS)
capabilities inherent in MASERGY's native Multi Protocol
Label Switching (MPLS) IP backbone. Customers do not need
special equipment to take advantage of these advanced services;
a standard IP router is the only customer premise equipment
(CPE) required.
