Adds Streaming Audio to Popular EZStream Service Offerings
Adding Streaming Audio to Web Sites is as Easy as Point,
Click and Listen
DALLAS(Nov.
5, 2001) - ViewCast Corporation (NASDAQ: VCST), the video
communications leader, today announced a streaming audio-only
component to its "point-click-create-view'' streaming
video service, EZStream. EZStream is a complete streaming
media service for businesses from ViewCast Online (www.viewcast.com/services/ezstream_audio.html),
a division of ViewCast.
"EZStream
made low-cost streaming video easy for any business that
might not have the time, resources or necessary skills to
incorporate this effective new communications medium into
its Web site. Our new service similarly simplifies the incorporation
of streaming audio for businesses that only require Internet
audio,'' said George Platt, ViewCast president and chief
executive officer. ``The market has indicated that there
are times when streaming audio is a sufficient communications
vehicle for an organization's messaging needs, and we are
responding by offering an audio-only component to our EZStream
services. What we've done -- as we did with video -- is
make it a simple and affordable process for the end user."
Platt
said that religious organizations -- with archives of audio-only
sermons and other teachings -- comprise another potentially
attractive vertical market for the new EZStream audio service.
Platt also pointed to businesses that wish to communicate
with shareholders in accordance with the SEC's Fair Disclosure
regulation E-mail marketers and marketing campaign service
providers as prime consumers of the new audio-only option.
EZStream
combines software and specially packaged services that enable
businesses or organizations to capture, edit, encode, publish,
host and deliver streaming video or audio content on Web
sites. With EZStream, communicating via audio online is
as easy as click, create and listen.
"Because
audio can be easily transported via the Internet to virtually
any Internet-enabled PC, there is no issue with the end
user's connection speed or processor power," said Platt.
"Even 28K dialup users enjoy CD-quality audio. Most PCs
are already equipped with sound cards and microphones, so
users already have everything they need to create audio
messages and include it in bulk E-mails and on their Web
pages."
Prior
to the introduction of EZStream, getting audio or video
on the Internet involved a multitude of separate steps --
everything from capturing, encoding, and editing the video
or audio to setting up streaming servers, intricate Web
site coding and negotiating for favorable bandwidth rates.
EZStream automates the entire process into a single, point-and-click
procedure performed on an ordinary PC using the EZStream
Wizard. ViewCast Online's high-performance content delivery
network then delivers a high-quality audio stream.
