Announces Video Conferencing Starter Packages
New Pricing Enhances Attractiveness of Teleconferencing
for Businesses of All Sizes
DALLAS
(Oct.15, 2001) - ViewCast Corporation (NASDAQ: VCST), the
video communications leader, announced today it is offering
several special priced Viewpoint VBX(TM) teleconferencing
packages to help companies new to video conferencing quickly
and cost-effectively deploy systems in their enterprise.
The ViewCast VBX is a unique product that allows businesses
to quickly implement videoconferencing into its existing
infrastructure and deliver rich media communication direct
to the desktop in a variety of standards. The new VBX packages
come in configurations for 4, 8, 15, 32 and 64 users.
"These
specially priced and pre-configured packages combined with
the increased demand for teleconferencing solutions as safe
and cost-effective alternatives to travel, make the Viewpoint
VBX an attractive and effective means of enhancing business
communications," said George Platt, ViewCast president and
chief executive officer.
The
new packages enable any company to quickly deploy video
conferencing while reaping the benefits of using an enterprise-wide
video distribution system linking their headquarters, branch
and small offices. The systems provide the base components
while allowing scalability for future growth and enhancements.
The
4, 8 and 15-user configurations, designed for small businesses
or branch offices, include codecs offering either H.320
(ISPN) or H.323 (IP) standards. The larger 32 and 64-user
configurations, for enterprise-wide deployment, feature
both standards. Any user can initiate or receive H.320 video
calls at up to 384kb rates with the VBX systems (requires
one to three ISDN BRI circuits for each H.320 codec to support
conferencing calls). In addition, each desktop bundle in
the VBX systems includes a VBX transceiver, a ViewCast Osprey-100
PCI capture card and a desktop conferencing-quality camera.
"These
price-reduced packages are perfect for anyone who is new
to video conferencing. Even if your enterprise has video
conferencing, these starter packages will provide additional
functionality and users to your existing system,'' Platt
added.
