ViewCast and MediaWave Announce Joint Marketing Agreement
Companies Will Co-Market ViewCast Products to EMEA Marketplace
DALLAS(Oct.3, 2001) - Against the backdrop of reduced air travel demand and the search for effective
alternatives, ViewCast Corporation (NASDAQ: VCST), the video
communications leader, has entered into a joint marketing agreement with leading Internet broadcaster,
MediaWave. MediaWave will provide sales and sales engineering support for all
ViewCast products to ViewCast resellers as part of its strategy to enhance its
product portfolio and ramp up its presence in Europe, the Middle East and Africa
(EMEA).
MediaWave, which is focusing its efforts on the growing business market, will
merge ViewCast's complementary products with its own, providing market-leading
capability and presence in over 15 countries across EMEA. The company can now
represent a range of hardware that enhances its network usability, thereby
boosting its appeal to businesses adopting advanced video communication
strategies.
Combining the strengths of its newly launched Corporate Vision broadcasting
system, its existing NeuralNetwork and the ViewCast Viewpoint VBX, an enterprise
video distribution and conferencing system, MediaWave is now better placed to
help businesses exploit the benefits of high quality network broadcasting at a
fraction of the cost of other video communications solutions - and without
impacting on the corporate network. The merged offering not only provides an
economical alternative to executive travel but also a flexible platform for
corporate communications as a whole.
In addition, this agreement will bring together MediaWave's expertise in
encoding, product, installation and implementation of streaming media
applications with ViewCast's Osprey video capture cards, ViewCast Niagara
Streaming Systems turnkey solutions and ViewCast Online services in the form of
MediaWave Self Stream to offer businesses a robust and complete streaming media
solution: from content capture through to uploading to the Internet.
Chris Frampton, MediaWave CEO comments on the deal, "The worldwide content
distribution traffic revenues from corporate streaming is expected to rise to
around US$400m by 2005 and EMEA will represent a significant proportion of this.
We can now effectively build on our strong position in Europe, by building on
key synergies between MediaWave and ViewCast to deliver best-in-class
highly-featured network-based video-conferencing solutions for business
customers."
George Platt, president and chief executive officer of ViewCast, adds,
"Businesses are realizing that videoconferencing and interactive streaming
applications provide substantial cost and time savings as an alternative to
travel - especially for companies with a multi-national presence. MediaWave is
well positioned to support ViewCast in driving this message and marketing
innovative solutions through ViewCast technologies and services."
