ViewCast to Stream Texas Governor's Editorial Board Meeting

First-ever interactive steaming video meeting between Gov. Perry and Texas newspaper editors

DALLAS (Aug. 14, 2001) - ViewCast Corporation (NASDAQ: VCST), the video communications leader, will provide the streaming media technology for the first interactive, steaming video editorial board meeting between a Texas governor and state newspaper editorial board members.

The meeting between Gov. Rick Perry and editorial board members from across the state will take place Aug. 16 during the 4th Annual Texas Transportation Summit (http://www.ci.irving.tx.us/Summit/index.htm) at the Omni Mandalay Hotel in Irving, Texas. While newspaper editors from across the state will be in attendance at the summit, editors unable to attend will be able to access the meeting - and ask questions - via real-time streaming media at a password-protected Web site provided by ViewCast.

The interactive editorial board meeting, to be moderated by Rena Pederson, vice president, editorial page editor of the Dallas Morning News, is believed to be the first such innovative use of streaming media in the country.

The 4th Annual Texas Transportation Summit, hosted by the City of Irving, is the state's most comprehensive transportation event and the largest of its type in the country. Approximately 1,000 public officials and Texas business leaders will attend the three-day event, which will feature more than 100 speakers, including U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta.

"Gov. Perry will have the opportunity to showcase his leadership in transportation issues - and technology -with the first-ever streamed, interactive editorial board meeting and ViewCast is honored to provide the streaming technology making it possible," said George Platt, president and chief executive officer of ViewCast Corporation. "By providing a live, interactive stream of the editorial board meeting, as well as archived streaming video and audio of the governor's keynote address, ViewCast is demonstrating to a state and national audience the versatility and effective communications capabilities of streaming media."

"ViewCast streaming technology has enabled us to take this event to a new level and a wider audience," said Linda Harper-Brown, City Council Member, City of Irving. "The City of Irving is committed to making the Texas Transportation Summit a success, and cutting-edge technological applications such as streaming portions of the summit via the Internet keeps us ahead of the curve."
