Program Marks First Venture from New ViewCast

(Dec. 11, 2000) The plain paper resume as we know
it may be an endangered species, courtesy of a pilot program
announced today between Viewcast, Inc. (NASDAQ: VCST), a
leading provider of Internet and networked video solutions,
and BrassRing Inc., a leading provider of recruiting and
hiring management software and services.
The
Brass Ring pilot program was developed and implemented by
the companys recently announced ViewCast Online Solutions
division, which concentrates on business-to-business solutions
for video communications.
With
this pilot program, and future programs in other vertical
markets, ViewCast is aggressively attacking the content
creation challenge that is the number-one issue facing
businesses using this technology in the digital economy,
said ViewCast President and Chief Executive Officer George
Platt. Through innovative packaging of our state-of-the-art
content capture hardware and software and rich media delivery
expertise, ViewCast makes it easy for businesses to create
content and utilize the content for such online communications
as recruiting new employees, communicating with customers
or business partners, or any of the other countless communications
applications that are enhanced by video.
In
addition, we further assist the business by enabling them,
for the first time, to easily integrate this content into

partnership validates our intentions, through ViewCast Online

Under
the terms of the Brass Ring agreement, ViewCast will provide
leading-edge streaming video services, technology and customized
software applications to Brass Ring. ViewCast demonstrated
its new StreamSTUDIO capture station at a sold-out
Brass Ring Career Fair on Dec. 4-5 in Santa Clara, Calif.
The
recruitment industry is a significant market for Viewcast
technology, said Platt. In todays business
environment, employers are looking at and utilizing every
technological advantage to hire and retain the best, brightest
and most diverse employee prospects. Viewcast streaming
video technology allows employers to visually assess a prospective
employees communication skills and as a result, reduce
both the recruiting cycle cost-per-hire.
The
StreamSTUDIO station allows both job seekers and job providers
the ability to record, store and stream a video message
to potential employers or employees. This turnkey service
from Viewcast provides comprehensive click, create,
view and assess streaming video via an integrated
package of streaming technologies which include a video
camera, professional lighting, quality audio, ViewCasts
Osprey capture cards the de facto standard in the
streaming industry and Viewcasts proprietary
streaming video applications.
Potential
job applicants interested in utilizing the new StreamSTUDIO,
which featured a Brass Ring skin and branding,
were instructed on the use of the technology via a brief,
easy-to-follow onscreen tutorial that walked the applicant
through an interview. The applicants were also supplied
with several onscreen scripts which they could use during
the recording of their video resume. Each applicant was
given three takes to record a final 30-second video, which
is then published online and available to a select group
of employers for 120 days. In addition, the hosting services
include a reporting engine that records the number of times
video resume has been viewed.
