Hi,

I'm trying to encode video using windows media encoder, but the preview screen doesn't show anything. We are using PAL video, and have changed the video properties, but I am still having no joy.

Can anyone please help me.

Thanks

Paul

What are your profile settings?

Encoder will not show the preview under such settings as Two-Pass and a few others. If you use standard contant rate encoding NTSC it should work fine.  But as a suggestion, turn off your view window at it will take an extra 10% to 20% of your system resources.

I would hook up a 2nd monitor or add a switch and a conversion box such as AverMedia's external if you want to use your computer monitor as a "media" monitor to see the raw input.

But if you must, after you get the preview working, just view it long enough to see that you are capturing and then turn that window off.
