Can I use the Osprey 100 capture card for webcam files to use with Sureyor's Webcam 32 program?
Thanks.

Can you send us a link to "Sureyor's Webcam 32 program". I'm not familiar with it. If it is something we can test here we'll gladly do a quick check on the application and let you know if it works ok.

By the way here's the url for surveyor webcam 32:
http://surveyorcorp.com/webcam32/

My question is:
Is it possible and compatible to run 3 instance of the survayor app using as capture card the Osprey 100 for remote internet surveillance application?
(1) one selecting as source the composite video 1,
(1) selecting as source  the composite  video 2,
(1) selecting as source the composite video 3.

And so on ... with a second, and a Third capture card for as many available PCI slot  are in a system?

Somebody from viewcast should pay some attention to this Discussion Forum, otherwise this is useless and a waste of time.

The Osprey cards support multiple cards in a system, which would allow you to capture from multiple camera's. As far as capturing multiple sources simultaneuosly from one Osprey-100, this is not supported. The Osprey cards only allow you to capture one unique input source at a time per card. If you need to capture multiple files from one unique source we would recommend looking at our Simulstream feature, which is available on the Osprey-210/220/500/540/2000. This feature will allow you to capture multiple files in multiple formats such as WMV,AVI, and RM from one unique source.  By the way I installed the surveyor webcam 32 program and was able to use it with our Osprey card.

Webcam32 user's opinion:
Generates only JPEGs.
"Server push" feature is unstable, and crashes if FTP image upload is also used.
"Client pull" inefficiently captures and streams separate images to each viewing client.
Java applets (javacam and javacampull) work with MS Java VM, but not work with Sun Java VM - that's ok, because "client pull" works at 1-2fps with Javascript onload/reload trick.

Faster, better quality, lower bandwidth live streaming video is produced by encoders such as Microsoft Windows Media Encoder, Real Producer/Server, Quicktime/Darwin, Nullsoft NSV, VLC etc.

There's even a webcam with true streaming using WME built in: TinCam - acts as its own webserver, too, with functional HTML templates.

Happy experimenting.
