Hello

I'm basicaly upgrading my stream servers from celeron 2.6ghz to amd 3200+ (32bit mode) (WinXP Pro)

I at start noticed temendous stability problems, untill memtestx86 pointed that the RAM memory modules i used were incompatible with the motherboard's chipset.
After plugging in a new pair of 512mb modules, memtest86 was fine, and the encoding tools i used didn't reboot the servers anymore.

But soon after that i ran into a very unexpected issue.

The issue is the following, once installing the exact same drivers on old and new hardware, the streaming/encoding tools i use (formally wme and nsvcap) don't see the Osprey-230 AUDIO capture card.

Altho:
Device manager reports the card is installed and working.
Winxp audio config screen let's me use the Oprey 230 audio as default mic recording.

I first thought something was wrong with my test card, so tried with two others, same result.
If i reinstall the card on one of the old servers, (both running latest win updates & osprey drivers), the audio device showed well.

After uninstalling the drivers, I tried manually deleting (providen the FAQ's recomandations) all the Osprey related materials found in windows/system32, driver, inf, and temp folders..
Than reinstalled again, but it still fails.

What else could i try ?

(Currently reinstalling XP on the new test server.. hoping the damages RAM corrupted the first windows install)

YES!

The problem was indeed windows.

Installed the system on another drive, installed all exact same components.
Now wme & nsvcap can use the Osprey sound capture device :)

Same problem for me.

Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Today, everything was fine during 3-4 hours and then no sound for the stream.
If I create a new session, I can't find the "Osprey-230 Audio Device 1".
Everything seems ok in the device manager.
I'm using Windows Server 2003 and drivers are 3.1.1.2.

Any idea ?
Thank you.

From the FAQ : "If you are using a remote desktop application/utility, this will not work since they do not enumerate the audio devices correctly (system-wide)."

My bad ...

Now, why sound suddenly "disappears" after 4 hours of streaming ...

I had this exact problem with an Osprey 220 on W2K3 using the VFW drivers.  This issue was caused after applying Service Pack 1.  I had to rebuild the machine and then apply the security updates using the custom option in windows update

But, Deckard is correct in saying you will have problems with the audio device if you attempt to configure the encoder using Remote Desktop or similar.
