Hello,

Osprey 500 DV

We just recently installed Windows Server 2003.  Our Multimedia Controller and Multimedia Video Controller are not working.  Are there drivers available for this platform.  If so, where would we get them.

p.s.  We looked on the ViewCast website and could not find any drivers for Windows Server 2003.

http://www.viewcast.com/driverdownload.asp

Thanks in advance,

osprey_user

Howdy.

I successfully installed an Osprey 500 on Windows 2003 server using the Windows XP drivers (XP and 2003 are both essentially NT 5.1).

Mick,

Thanks for the helpful reply.  We downloaded the lastest patch from viewcast.com, http://www.viewcast.com/driverdownload.asp.  After installing the new driver and restarting the server.  Windows Media Encoder 9 Series still did not see our osprey 500 DV card.

Sidenote...everything worked just fine before we updated the OS to Windows Server 2003 from Windows Server 2000.

Where did you get the Windows XP drivers.  From the link above, which driver should we select from the list of windows xp patches?

Thank you, osprey_user

Hi osprey_user.

FTP using anonymous login to:

ftp2.viewcast.com

and once connected, navigate down to:

/pub/OSP-500/winXP/latest/

and download all of the files in that folder.  The main installer is Osprey-5002.2.1UpdateforXP.exe.  Read the ReadME.txt file before installing and then afterwards, read ReadME_Patch4.txt and ReadME_Patch5.txt to see if you need to install the patches as well.

I installed 2 of these cards in each one of 3 Compaq/HP DL380G's that we had at the time (so a total of 6 cards) with no problems using each pair simultaneously (capturing audio as well as video) in each machine.  One thing that you might need to be aware of is that if I recall correctly, the ReadME.txt file recommends that the drivers be installed prior to installing the cards in the machine. In the past, with the Opsrey 100's and 220's that I installed, I installed the hardware first and then the drivers afwerwards.  So with the first machine, I installed the cards first and then the drivers before I read ReadME.txt (oops) after which I subsequently installed the drivers before the cards were installed on the other 2 machines.

Having said that though, the installation did not spit the dummy when the cards were installed before the drivers were installed on the first machine and in the end, the 3 machines and the 2 Osprey 500 cards in each machine all performed faultlessly.
