Hello all;

Serious need of help here for anyone willing.  I have just purchased an Osprey 230 card and can not enable audio.  Video is fine on multiple line-in sources.

First let me overload you on on PC specs .  MB is an ABIT VA-10, VT8235 chipset, FSB 333, DDR 333, 8X AGP (non installed) 6 channel audio onboard.  The processor is an AMD XP 2000 + with 240MB RAM. It's slightly overclocked. I'm running Win98SE with all current Microsoft updates. It's a stripped down box.  I've disabled the floppy drive, onboard LAN, onboard audio and USB in an attempt to give the Osprey full access to resources.  I have three PCI slots.  One is handling a Netgear wireless NIC card, The Osprey is in one and the other one is empty. One empty AGP slot.  One hard-drive at 80GB (FAT32), One CD-ROM.  I've downloaded the latest drivers to date (file: o220_200_9x_138.exe) Which I think is odd, as the read-me file states this "group is for the Osprey-200, 210, and 220 cards." But I guess Viewcast know best.  It's under the WIN98 link for the 230 card.

The recording device is set to the Osprey-200 audio.  There is no installed playback device.  I have attempted to check the audio through the "Sound Recorder Program" watching for changes in the "green" line.  I also watched the recorder mixer bar accessed through the multimedia properties but it is "grayed" out. I've attached a Sony Hi-8 camcorder and also a Quasar VHS+ VCR using the RCA yellow/red/white type connectors.  Video is great, but no audio.  I've also attempted to use Windows Media Encoder version 7.01

I have changed the card to the other two PCI slots.

On a whim, I also installed it temporarilly in another PC with a Soyo Dragon Lite MB, 512MB Ram, NVIDIA AGP board, Win98SE OS, Intel x86 processor and a Creative Sounblaster Audio PCI card.  Once again, video but no audio.

I'm willing to give my ICQ or home phone to anyone that feel knowledgable enough to assist. I really need this audio to work.

Thanks!

Mark

Don't forget that the Osprey doesn't "auto-sense" which connector you have used for your audio connection so, after going through the steps you already have to make the Osprey your preferred recording device, you must open Windows mixer (double-click the speaker icon for volume control in the system tray) click options>properties>recording.  Be sure all the available inputs have a checkmark, then OK.  Now be sure that you have selected the input to which you have connected audio.

For a more detailed response, do a search on mixer or preferred.  I wrote one up before I changed emails and forgot my forum password ;)

the power went off a few weeks ago and I lost the sound recording capability. Video was ok and all the settings were ok in the mixer.Uninstalled and reinstalled the Osprey drivers and patches. No go. Uninstalled and reinstalled the card. Still no go.Uninstalled and reinstalled the sound card and drivers. Was gettin a little annoyed by then and considering reinstalling the operating system. Started uninstalling all programs that used the sound. Quicktime ,WMP, Nero, Realplayer, finally dumped Roxio and the sound came back. Go figger.
