I recently received my Niagara PowerStream 5222RW and started with some basic encoding and I was shocked when I had 3 streams going and was 80-85% into my CPU usage.  This was using only the Real Producer Plus encoder.  I was running bitrates of 225, 150, and 56 with no full-screen sizes.  Even with just one running at 225 I was getting sone hesitation from time to time in the output file when I played it back.  Something doesn't seem right.  I didn't use the SCX software yet.  I just opened 3 different sessions with the single bitrates for each.  Help!!!

OK... It helps to go through the FAQ's...

I have encoded a file and the playback is choppy on the encoder.

The Niagara system you have may not have a sound card and is trying to use the Osprey card for playback. Set the default playback device in Control Panel, Sounds & Multimedia. Click on the Audio tab and choose either the systems sound card (if available) or the OspreyX-placeholder as the systems preferred playback device.

Even though My system is set for the placeholder it still would hesitate every minute or so.  I tested the playback streams on my laptop and....tada!  They were perfect.  Whew!  I had logged several hours on this one.  Turning off services...trying different combinations of bitrates, etc...
