Hello,

I am looking for recommended cards for using SDI interface on Linux,
kernel 2.6 versions.

Which are the best cards to get for such a setup?

A side-question may be if they card with 64 bit kernels?

Osprey QA has attempted to install the current [beta] versions of the Osprey Linux drivers on the 2.6 kernel and hasn't been able to get the driver to compile. So, unless you're willing to go back to an older kernel version then unfortunately I cannot make a recommendation.  If you can go back to an older kernel, then I can only recommend that versions that were used for development and testing. The two major development and testing platforms were Mandrake 8.0 and 8.1 (kernels 2.4.8-26 and 2.4.18). It is thought that the Osprey's Linux driver should work for all versions of 2.4. It has been tested with kernel versions from 2.4.6 to 2.4.18.

The driver does support SDI video on the Osprey-540 (I do not think embedded audio is supported) and can be found at ftp://ftp.viewcast.com/pub/OSP-200/Linux/rc3/.

As to the 64 bit question this has not been tested.  I can only offer the famous Linux advice, "try it!"  ;-)

-S.

Thanks for the clear answer, even if not what I had been hoping for.

For the time being we will look else where because we need the 2.6 kernel
for other things.
