I have just noticed that Helix Producer Basic doesn't allow one to create / edit new target audience templates. If I were to spend the $200 and upgrade to Helix Producer Plus, would this affect the operation of SCX ?

Failing that, can templates created/edited in Helix Producer Plus be used with Helix Producer Basic ?

Finally, SCX Explorer lists the target audiences in a GUI style dialog under the 'Output (2)' tab. Does this mean that if the above is possible, that I have to edit one of the existing named templates rather than being able to use a new one, or do additional check boxes appear for new templates created ?

I currently have some applications where I may want to go above 512kbps in Real format. This is easy in Windows Media Encoder, but doesn't look possible in the current set-up for Helix Producer.

regards,

Dave

Hi Dave,

The Helix Producer Plus upgrade would have no effect on SCX operation. Im not sure if templates created in Plus can be used in Basic. I believe they can in limited circumstances. As far as SCX goes, if you edit the template files in C:\Program Files\Real\Helix Producer Plus\audiences, then the new settings will affect operation in SCX. For example, you can edit the 512K stream to actually be 1Mb or whatever you want. However, you have to maintain the same template name and it will still be listed as 512Kbps in SCX.

In the new version of SCX 3.3 (available soon), any new audience templates created will be available as long as they are stored in the proper directory. This means you will not have to replace any of the pre-defined audience templates to add new ones. I hope this helps.

Regards,

MattC
