My previous encoding setup was a Windows 2000 system with an Osprey 220 running the 2.2 driver.  I used this to stream Real Media 8.  This setup worked well and allowed me to capture closed captioning.

In order to stream Windows Media 9 with closed captioning, I setup a Windows XP machine containing the same Osprey 220 running the 3.0 driver.  While Windows Media works well, I can no long capture closed captioning in Real Media.  I have tried both Real Producer 8.51 and Helix Producer 9.  Is this a known limitation of the 3.0 driver?

Hi, if you were using the cc2streams sample utility from Osprey Video that isn't compatible with version 3.0.0 or later of the Osprey drivers - you must use 2.2.2 or prior to use that utility.

While it is possible to stream CC data in Windows Media without the utility (but not possible with Real, at this time, without the utility) some do prefer the utility anyway because it allows for multiple lines of cc data below the video area in Windows Media Player - while using the scripting method in WME9 only displays a single line of data at a time.  The drawback to that is that where there is fast-paced dialog the text can disappear before it is read.

I'm not using the cc2streams utility.  I was hoping to use the real2text utility to stream CC for Real Media, but it doesn't work with the latest driver, either.  Previously, I just had the CC displayed in the video in Real.  This was done using Real Producer 8.51.

Thanks for the help.

cc2streams and real2text are the same utility with the same limitations.  I can only recommend using the utility with version 2.2.2 or prior to stream cc for both Real and WM at this time.

If I come up with any other ideas I'll let you know!
