ViewCast.com and SMAC Enter Joint Agreement Offering a New Breed of Integrated, Enterprise Video Products
Products combine latest video technologies: video conferencing, TCP/IP or ISDN connectivity and streaming media
Dallas, TX and Gaithersburg, MD October 7, 1999: ViewCast.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:VCST) the company that offers high-quality video communication solutions, and SMAC Data Systems (S-M-A-C), a national computer systems integrator and an end-to-end IT infrastructure deployment company, today announced an agreement to offer new enterprise video products to public and private organizations. Based on the agreement, ViewCast.com has licensed certain video technologies to SMAC, who will incorporate ViewCast.coms technology into StreamSwitch, a new solution delivering video conferencing to LAN/WAN clients, connecting offices via TCP/IP or ISDN and streaming media to Intranet or Internet viewers. StreamSwitch will be sold by both ViewCast.com and SMAC.
StreamSwitch in combination with network storage array systems facilitates the recording of video conferences, meetings, media TV and live events for future "play" and review. Furthermore, applications such as live event broadcasts, distance learning, education and corporate communications, benefit from StreamSwitchs ability to record, store and widely distribute video content over the Internet or corporate intranets.
Users can setup conference calls between two or more locations using TCP/IP or ISDN connections between StreamSwitch servers. StreamSwitch supports additional functionality that will allow remote office to utilize ISDN (H.320) client stations to call into a central office and make use of available directories and other media resources.
"We are excited about this joint relationship with SMAC and we are pleased that an integrator with such a terrific track record has chosen to base its next generation video offerings on ViewCast.coms technology. In order for the video communications market to grow, it requires a keen understanding of several different types of technologies from video conferencing equipment to streaming media. SMAC and ViewCast.com, together, make a powerful partnership that guarantees successful deployments of this technology for all types of applications." said George C. Platt, president and CEO of ViewCast.com, Inc.
