NEC's Reseller Channel Launch of MMAC's Viewpoint VBX�

Dallas, Texas (January 20,1998) – MultiMedia Access Corporation (Nasdaq: MMAC) and NEC America, Inc. announce the nationwide rollout of MMAC's Viewpoint VBX� enterprise video communications system to the NEC America reseller channel. NEC's reseller channel is one of the communications industry's largest distribution channels with over 250 independent System Integrators and network Value Added Remarketers (VARs) with over 3,000 sales representatives.

NEC America will demonstrate the integration of NEC's NEAX� 2400 telephone PBX and NETNEX� 8550 ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switches with the VBX videocom system to its leading resellers. System configurations include 155Mbps ATM networking of the VBX video systems enabling businesses to provide several enterprise-wide videocom applications to their organization, including business TV, H.320 & H.324 videoconferencing, video-based training, telemedicine and video surveillance.

The VBX provides advanced "enterprise-friendly" features like on-line shared directory services, shared video codec gateways for ISDN, PSTN and TCP/IP network resources and direct inward dialing video capabilities.
