Viewcast And Brass Ring To Test Video Job Recruitment Program

Pilot Program Marks First Venture from New ViewCast Online Solutions Division

DALLAS (Dec. 11, 2000) The plain paper resume as we know it may be an endangered species, courtesy of a pilot program announced today between Viewcast, Inc. (NASDAQ: VCST), a leading provider of Internet and networked video solutions, and BrassRing Inc., a leading provider of recruiting and hiring management software and services.

The Brass Ring pilot program was developed and implemented by the companys recently announced ViewCast Online Solutions division, which concentrates on business-to-business solutions for video communications.

With this pilot program, and future programs in other vertical markets, ViewCast is aggressively attacking the content creation challenge that is the number-one issue facing businesses using this technology in the digital economy, said ViewCast President and Chief Executive Officer George Platt. Through innovative packaging of our state-of-the-art content capture hardware and software and rich media delivery expertise, ViewCast makes it easy for businesses to create content and utilize the content for such online communications as recruiting new employees, communicating with customers or business partners, or any of the other countless communications applications that are enhanced by video.

In addition, we further assist the business by enabling them, for the first time, to easily integrate this content into their e-business processes, Platt added. The partnership validates our intentions, through ViewCast Online Solutions, to be the company that understands how to lead business to gain quick and dramatic time-to-value from the use of rich media.

Under the terms of the Brass Ring agreement, ViewCast will provide leading-edge streaming video services, technology and customized software applications to Brass Ring. ViewCast demonstrated its new StreamSTUDIO capture station at a sold-out Brass Ring Career Fair on Dec. 4-5 in Santa Clara, Calif.

The recruitment industry is a significant market for Viewcast technology, said Platt. In todays business environment, employers are looking at and utilizing every technological advantage to hire and retain the best, brightest and most diverse employee prospects. Viewcast streaming video technology allows employers to visually assess a prospective employees communication skills and as a result, reduce both the recruiting cycle cost-per-hire.

The StreamSTUDIO station allows both job seekers and job providers the ability to record, store and stream a video message to potential employers or employees. This turnkey service from Viewcast provides comprehensive click, create, view and assess streaming video via an integrated package of streaming technologies which include a video camera, professional lighting, quality audio, ViewCasts Osprey capture cards the de facto standard in the streaming industry and Viewcasts proprietary streaming video applications.

Potential job applicants interested in utilizing the new StreamSTUDIO, which featured a Brass Ring skin and branding, were instructed on the use of the technology via a brief, easy-to-follow onscreen tutorial that walked the applicant through an interview. The applicants were also supplied with several onscreen scripts which they could use during the recording of their video resume. Each applicant was given three takes to record a final 30-second video, which is then published online and available to a select group of employers for 120 days. In addition, the hosting services include a reporting engine that records the number of times video resume has been viewed.

We're excited to be able to provide employers and job candidates with the most innovative technology available, and the combination of Viewcasts StreamSTUDIO and BrassRings resume database technology takes recruitment into an exciting new visual and interactive era," said Deb Besemer, President and CEO of BrassRing Inc.. This pilot program could be a glimpse into the future of job recruitment, in which video is used to enhance a resume and employers and applicants ultimately talk in real-time via networked video.
