ViewCast.com Provides Video-to-Desktop Solution for Worldwide Investment Management Company

Phase One Installation Calls for $400K Purchase

DALLAS (July 27, 2000) ViewCast.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: VCST), a leading provider of Internet and networked video solutions, announced today that the company has started installation of phase one of a video-to-desktop solution for a leading Wall Street investment management company. Phase one is valued at $400,000. With the success of this initial implementation, there is a phase two opportunity for ViewCast.com to substantially increase the number of video seats for the investment management company.

The investment management company has offices worldwide and will utilize the system for internal and external video and rich media communications and applications over a variety of diverse systems.

"This is a substantial sale in an attractive vertical market, a good example of the kind of services we provide, and an innovative use of ViewCast.com technology," said ViewCast.com President and Chief Executive Officer George Platt. "The flexibility of the Viewpoint VBX allows worldwide communication over a variety of platforms and diverse systems. The technology improves business communications and expedites decision-making. And in todays rapid business environment, speed is essential. We are looking forward moving on to Phase II of the implementation."

Platt said the investment management company had been working with various technologies to enable efficient and effective video communications to the desktop with varying degrees of success, when the capabilities of the ViewCast.com Viewpoint VBX were brought to their attention. "We had a solution they needed and were responsive and supportive of their needs," he said. "We worked with their technology people to deliver a system that matched their needs."

ViewCast.com has delivered and installed four of its versatile Viewpoint VBX systems at the investment management companys corporate headquarters. In addition, ViewCast.com worked with the client to install its Osprey-1000 video capture cards within the companys existing network. The Viewpoint VBX is an enterprise-wide video communication system that enables desktops and conference rooms to access a choice of video communication resources. The Viewpoint VBX server and codec array supports a number of video communication standards, including H.323 (video over TCP/IP networks), MPEG-2, H.320 (video over ISDN), and H.324 (video over standard telephone lines), in addition to NTSC and PAL interfaces for connection of commercial and consumer A/V devices.

Each VBX is capable of delivering rich media to up to 60 video seats for desktop-to-desktop audio/video communications. Phase one of the installation calls for 200 video seats connected to the Viewpoint VBX communication system. Phase two of the deal calls for an additional 300 video seats.

One of the companys first applications of the system was to hold a conference call between principals at the companys U.S. and U.K. offices utilizing the investment management companys existing videoconferencing hardware. The conference call was then streamed internally to 120 additional executives, along with an Internet Relay Chat text block window, so that the remote viewers could ask questions of the conference call principals as they watched the conference call. All of this information was delivered in a single browser window.
